I first saw this tag on Rosie’s blog (www.rosiefrecklereads.wordpress.com) when she first introduced herself to me at the Northern YA Literature Festival we both attended. I literally screamed when I saw it on her blog, having no idea that it existed. At all. And I’m so grateful that she put it on my radar. Seeing my excitement, she told me to “consider myself tagged” so I DO.
I CONSIDER MYSELF TAGGED.
The Greatest Show: The Greatest Book You Ever Read.
Right now, my heart has been completely stolen by Starfish. I was expecting to like it, but I wasn’t expecting to love it this much. I literally have not stopped thinking about it for the past 10 days. It’s a completely stand-alone contemporary book that tackles body image, romance and emotional-abuse.
I can’t talk about it enough – I can’t think about it enough. I absolutely flew through it, cover-to-cover, and I can tell you: it’s worth the purchase.
It’s worth every second of attention you give it.
Just prepare to have your life changed.
A Million Dreams – A Book That Left You Dreaming
Can I please say Starfish again?
I’ve genuinely been having dreams about it.
OKAY, APPARENTLY REPEATING THE SAME ANSWER IS CHEATING OR SOMETHING, SO I’LL COME UP WITH A DIFFERENT RESPONSE. (Psssht)
I’ll go with the answer that would have been my answer to the first question if you’d asked me 10 days ago: Shatter Me by Tahehreh Mafi.
Not only is this entire series my comfort fall-back books, always able to break me out of a reading slump, but I continuously dream of the day I get to see them on the big screen. And the day that I have the fourth book (Restore Me) in my hands. It’s not officially out in the U.K. yet, but it’s release date isn’t far enough away for me to risk ordering from Book Depository. If I can just be patient for a little while longer…
I NEED THAT BOOK.
Come Alive – A Book Where A Character Finally Accepts Themselves
STARFISH. (Seriously, I need help. Please help me stop associating every question with this book. Please. I can’t think of anything else right now and it’s very much a problem. However, if it means you all go get Starfish RIGHT NOW, I will consider my torture well deserved).
If I have to actually choose a different answer again though, I’m going to say Anna from Anna and the French Kiss. She goes through a beautiful character progression, and though I don’t always like her, I think her confidence builds over the course of the book.
The Other Side: A Character Who Changed Your Opinion About Them
I really want to say Warner from the Shatter Me series (some books are just my answer about everything, okay?), but as with previous answers, I’ll try come up with different book-responses.
After a lot of thinking, I’m settling on Sirius Black.
For a long time, we all hated him with a passion – let’s be honest. How dare he kill Lily and James Potter?
Never Enough: An Author/Series You’ll Never Get Enough Of.
I CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH BOOKS FROM JENNIFER L ARMENTROUT.
NEV E R.
She’s easily my most owned author, and I don’t even own all of her books yet. But I will one day.
IF SHE COULD SLOW DOWN FOR ONCE WITH HER WRITING SPEED BECAUSE I CAN’T KEEP UP.
This Is Me: A Book You Love Despite Everyone Hating It:
If we all refer back to one of my first posts on this blog: Twilight.
Rewrite The Stars: A Bookish OTP That Overcame A Lot To Be Together
Drarry. (You can’t convince me otherwise!)
In all seriousness though, probably Rosalie and her boyfriend (no spoilers) from Vampire Academy. They battled through so much to be able to finally hold each other. It makes my heart melt a little every time.
Just a little.
Okay, a lot.
Tightrope: A Book/Series That Gave You Serious Trust Issues
Probably The Selection books by Kiera Cass. In my opinion, no matter how excited I was to hear that a 4th book was being added onto the end of the trilogy, the next two books completely ruined it for me.
I like to pretend they don’t exist.
It’s making me so worried for Restore Me to come out.
What if it bombs as much as The Heir did?
WHAT IF IT DOES?!
I can’t let Shatter Me be ruined for me, I need it. NEED.
From Now On: A Book You’ve Ignored For Too Long & Must Read
This is probably a really random answer, but I’m choosing Nevernight. I own special editions of both Nevernight & Godsgrave, and the cover reveal has just occurred for the 3rd book in Jay Kristoff’s series, but I still can’t convince myself to pick it up.
It’s exactly the kind of book I know I’ll love.
From the little I know about it (the VERY VERY little), it’s about assassins. Or it has assassins in it. Or someone is an assassin.
Either way: ASSASSINS.
Who doesn’t like books about assassins?
I have even less of an excuse considering how much I love Illuminae and Gemina, and how much I can’t wait to pick up Obsidio with my next book haul. So I already know the author has talent – I’m just procrastinating.
Also, too many people love it obsessively.
WHAT IF IT DOESN’T LIVE UP TO THE HYPE?
I should probably take the risk and give it a read. Probably.
