THE AMOUNT OF BOOKS I BUY ALWAYS FLUCTUATES.
I can go for weeks without stumbling onto Amazon or into Waterstones, and this is probably when I get the most of my reading done. I’ll absolutely fly through book after book with no distractions.
UNTIL MY AMAZON ADDICTION SUDDENLY ARRIVES.
I don’t know if I’m totally going crazy, but at least once a month something happens.
I fall onto Amazon.
I don’t know how I get there, or what tempts me over – but suddenly I’m looking through book review after book review, eyeing up fancy covers and drooling at new releases I’ve seen bouncing around on twitter.
And then somehow I stumble and buy a few.
I bought 3.
I never buy hardbacks.
(Okay, apparently I do).
The three books were:
1) Nice Try, Jane Sinner by Lianne Oekle.
2) Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston.
3) Honour Among Thieves by Rachel Caine & Anne Aguirre.
They were just completely gorgeous and I caved, and I’d like to say I regret it (I know my wallet does), but I don’t. All 3 were books from my ‘I Only Blame My Shelf’ online book club, so I totally have a valid reason for buying them all. Right. Right?
It’s crazy how I can look back at my Amazon history and see about a month of time between each order. It’s not even like I have a specific pay date where money comes flooding into my bank account, so I shouldn’t have a reason for being like clockwork when it comes to buying books.
IT JUST HITS ME OUT OF NOWHERE.
The next lot of books I got I can totally excuse with myself. If you’ve been an active follower on my little blog, you’ll know that this past weekend, I attended the lovely FIRST EVER Northern YA Literature Festival in Preston. Not only did I get to meet a bunch of authors – but they all lovingly did signings between panels!
So naturally I had to pick up a few books whilst I was there.
There were books such as The Cruel Prince by Holly Black that was lucky enough to have already read as an eARC (many thanks & warm love to Bonnier Zaffre!), which means a review already exists on Goodreads, and will be shared on this platform shortly! I was desperate to be able to get a physical copy to get signed though, and Holly was honestly so sweet to talk to. She also signed a piece of fan art I received in a goody bag! AND I WORE A CROWN IN A PHOTO WITH HER.
SHE TRULY IS QUEEN OF THE FAIRIES.
Can I be her princess though?
Not featured, but I actually bought myself two copies of The Exact Opposite of Okay! The lovely Laura Steven is doing a AMA for my book club on April 2nd, so I got her to sign a second copy for me to giveaway alongside her guest post. Isn’t the cover gorgeous?!
I was also incredibly lucky to be able to pick up a copy of Renegades by Marisa Meyer. Not only is this one of my most anticipated releases of the year, but I’ve actually already had a chance to read it! The reader in me got so excited when I saw a physical ARC and I knew I had to pick it up. FOR FREE.
Look at that beautiful cover!!
As an addition, I also decided to pick up The Fandom by Anna Day. I’ve seen it flying around social media SO much lately and I knew I was going to pick up a copy anyway. Why not splash out a little bit and get it to get it signed at the Northern YA Literature Festival? I’d have been making a massive mistake if I didn’t buy it IN THAT EXACT MOMENT.
Not only was buying these books fun, but going exploring for the Bookstagram photos was amazing. I do love it when it’s sunny, and I get to go out armed with a camera and my headphones. My cat decided to join me for my walk though:
She insisted on getting attention when I was trying to take photos of the books.
NO COMPLAINTS FROM ME THOUGH.
